Skee-Ball is an arcade game and one of the first redemption games. It is played by rolling a ball up an inclined lane and over a "ball-hop" hump (resembling a ski jump) that jumps the ball into bullseye rings. The object of the game is to collect as many points as possible by having the ball fall into holes in the rings which have progressively increasing point values.

At the other end, Makhaya Ntini [Images] began with four wides to Tendulkar; in passing, you wondered whether it might have been a plan for Graeme Smith to bowl Ntini in the first over, against Sehwag, and see if Pollock, bowling the second over, couldn't continue his good work against his bunny, Tendulkar, earning more psychological points ahead of the Tests.
The first ten overs vindicated Smith's thinking in bowling first, just as much as it showed up Sehwag's statement that he would have batted first anyway. For the rest of the team now, it is about consolidation; for Tendulkar, meanwhile, it is a grim battle not against the bowling so much as against whatever personal demons seem to be shackling his feet, and his bat.
Even the best of fielding sides, though, cannot completely cover for the fact that neither Kallis nor Nel have the bowling nous of Pollock or the pace and fire of Ntini; this allowed Tendulkar opportunities, as this spell of ten overs wound down, to free his arms at least occasionally to find runs.
Smith continued to throw the dice, bringing Ntini, with four overs left in his quota, on at the end vacated by Pollock. Justin Kemp, at the other end, did his team proud, bowling a tight line to Dhoni, keeping the ball just short of driving length and negating, with his relative economy, the damage done by Petersen's prodigality.
Pathan didn't help his cause by bowling too short, too often, allowing both batsmen to rock back and pull. In their eagerness, the two Proteas openers overhit the ball and let the young seam bowler off the hook a bit, taking only four off his come back over.
Of course, there was a fly in the ointment. It was Hunt, of the lower fourth. He had done most of the cricket coaching, such as it was, and he didn't like playing second fiddle to Scott. Of course he must have recognised that he had met his master, but he wouldn't admit it. He'd stand by the nets and criticise Scott's bowling till Scott fairly invited him to put on the pads.
We'd never seen Scott really bowl till then. It was a bit of a revelation to all of us. Hunt stood it until he saw all of us grinning at him, and then he threw down the bat and declared that Scott's bowling was not bowling at all, but palpably shying.
The victory was set up by disciplined bowling on cracked, dusty surface. After dismissing New Zealand for 155, India survived a couple of anxious moments before sealing a match that, at times, was most intriguing.
13.55: WICKET! Haddin c Bell b Harmison 14. Just as we were bemoaning the field setting and short-ball focussed bowling and it has come up trumps! Haddin tried the pull and was found wanting. 323-6
12.05: Sir Ian acknowledges that the bowling today has been 'very, very ordinary.' I think that is as polite as you can be. He's having a bit of a rant, 'this lot have gone into their shells, as soon as it seemed like they could win this Test, it's all gone wrong. The batting and bowling here has been embarrassing.' Beefy expressing what we're all thinking. 269-4
11.38: The hosts are hemorrhaging runs at an alarming rate. I get the feeling today is going to be hard work as we watch the Aussies pile on the runs and play themselves into an assailable lead. This crowd are mute, not a sound is coming from the much-vaunted Western Terrace. Still, they liven up once they've had a beer, which is precisely what I could do with to see me through this terrible spell of bowling. Time to get Swann in, I believe. If for no other reason than to get one of these inadequate seamers off. 261-4
11.30: This is a really bad start for England. I mean really, really bad - a run rate of 6.13 so far this morning illustrates just how rapidly this pair have been moving on. Broad replaces Harmison (hallelujah) serves us up some more ill-judged bowling then has the audacity to scream at Ravi Bopara for an overthrow - Nasser points out that the obvious comeback should be 'worry about your own game, mate'. 245-4
11.08: So, it's Steve Harmison from the Football Stand End...and he starts with those words you automatically associate with the bowler - rank long-hop - horrible stuff. Clarke sends him for four All the talk of bowling the right length today and he bowls that tripe. Good grief. 210-4
Sleighing (or sledding) might take place wherever there was a snowy incline. The Scots brought curling (a game resembling bowling, played with granite stones that slid across a sheet of ice) with them when they immigrated.
Yet the popularity of bowling was not dimmed by its early crude surroundings. Conversely, it continued to grow. The largest German population was located in New York City, where the first indoor bowling alley was opened in Manhattan in 1840. Like racing and boxing, bowling later suffered from the gambling and cheating that disreputable people brought to it and was banned in some areas. After the Civil War, however, bowling again grew in popularity.
Sergeant Michael Arrington of the Houston Homicide Division called on eyewitnesses to help identify the gunman who killed Migos rapper Takeoff at a Houston-area bowling alley Monday night. Tips can be called into the Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
Takeoff, one of the members of Atlanta-based rap trio Migos, was shot dead outside a Houston bowling alley early Tuesday. As we await more details on the police investigation into the shooting, many are asking questions about the group. 2ff7e9595c
